Section 8 Voucher Program

The Section 8 Waiting List is NOT OPEN at this time.

What is the Section 8 Voucher Program?

The Section 8 Voucher program (a.k.a. Section 8 Housing Choice program) is a federal housing subsidy program offering rental assistance to qualifying applicants. Although it is funded by the federal government, it is administered by local housing authorities.

How it works

Qualifying renters can use a Section 8 voucher to pay for a portion of their rent in any private market vacancy that will accept Section 8 Vouchers. (Note: Renters with and without Section 8 Vouchers are subject to landlords' screening processes before being accepted as tenants.)

Current Voucher Holders

Section 8 clients must report all changes in income and family size in writing and in a timely manner. Click here for a form to mail to the office [PDF].

Current Payment Standards and Utility Allowances are listed as attachments at the bottom of this page.

The Section 8 voucher program maintains a waiting list of applicants. Our waiting list is currently CLOSED.
