What is the Section 8 Voucher Program? |
The Section 8 Voucher program (a.k.a. Section 8 Housing Choice program) is a federal housing subsidy program offering rental assistance to qualifying applicants. Although it is funded by the federal government, it is administered by local housing authorities. |
How it works |
| Qualifying renters can use a Section 8 voucher to pay for a portion of their rent in any private market vacancy that will accept Section 8 Vouchers. (Note: Renters with and without Section 8 Vouchers are subject to landlords' screening processes before being accepted as tenants.) | |
Current Voucher Holders |
Section 8 clients must report all changes in income and family size in writing and in a timely manner. Click here for a form to mail to the office [PDF]. Current Payment Standards and Utility Allowances are listed as attachments at the bottom of this page. The Section 8 voucher program maintains a waiting list of applicants. Our waiting list is currently CLOSED. |
